KANG, Yun Kyoung
Dr. Kang graduated Summa Cum Laude from Seoul National University in 1995, a year ahead of schedule. As a molecular biologist passionate about estrogen signaling, Dr. Kang joined the Ph.D. program at the Rockefeller University's Laboratory of Biochemistry under Dr. Robert G. Roeder, a Lasker Award recipient. Following her Ph.D. thesis work, where she identified a mega protein complex associated with estrogen receptors, Dr. Kang continued her research journey on estrogen signaling under Dr. Bert W. O'Malley, an awardee of the National Medal of Science. Her academic journey led to a faculty appointment in the Physiology Department at the University of Florida.
Transitioning after 22 years in academia, Dr. Kang honed her skills in R&D management within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. She held key leadership roles, including the executive officer at Yuhan, the Vice President at CHA Advanced Research Institute, and the Chief Technology Officer at KoBioLab. Throughout her seven-year industrial career, Dr. Kang spearheaded many successful cross-border transactions, notably facilitating agreements between Yuhan-Jansen and CMG/Handok-AUM.
As an independent consultant for Corporate Development, Dr, Kang has actively engaged with numerous domestic and global biotech firms to foster their global expansion efforts. This includes her involvement in recent M&A activities, such as facilitating the acquisition of AbTis by Dong-A ST.
